Göbeklitepe Series 100% New Zealand Wool Handwoven Black Loom Anatolian Rug - Navy Red (Medallion)
The Göbeklitepe Series consists of high-quality wool rugs, designed with inspiration from Anatolia’s rich motifs and made entirely by hand. Woven on a black loom using 100% New Zealand wool, this distinctive rug stands out for its durability and authentic look. Its 8 mm pile height provides a soft, comfortable surface, while the fringed edges add an elegant detail. With a knot count of 168,000 and a weight of 2,850 g/m², it is a sturdy, long-lasting weave. This variant features a vintage look, with a red medallion and Anatolian motifs on a navy background.
What Is New Zealand Wool?
New Zealand wool is considered one of the world’s finest wools thanks to its natural whiteness, softness, and long-fiber structure. Its long, flexible fibers help the rug retain its shape and plushness even with heavy use, while the natural wool fibers regulate moisture and give a room a warm, healthy feel. The Göbeklitepe Series is handwoven on a black loom using wool certified by Wools of New Zealand. For details about our certifications, visit our sustainability and certifications page.
The Inspiration Behind the Göbeklitepe Series: Anatolian Heritage
Göbeklitepe, located in Şanlıurfa, is a rich cultural heritage of Anatolia, dating back approximately 12,000 years and considered one of the oldest known temple sites in human history. The Göbeklitepe Series draws inspiration from this ancient heritage and the rich motifs of the Anatolian rug-making tradition. Bringing medallions, borders, and traditional geometric patterns together with a modern interpretation, it lends living spaces an authentic spirit. Each color reflects a distinct pattern from Anatolian weaving tradition with its own unique character.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
