What Is TENCEL™ (Lyocell)?
TENCEL™ is a registered fiber brand developed by Lenzing AG. It belongs to the Lyocell family and is made from wood cellulose, particularly from eucalyptus trees. Produced using a closed-loop process, this fiber is known for its eco-friendly, biodegradable properties, silky softness, natural sheen, and moisture-regulating qualities. Thanks to its durability and skin-friendly feel, TENCEL™ fiber gives rugs a luxurious touch and lasting performance. Afghan Design and Uşak Tradition
The Kabil Collection is inspired by the rich motifs of traditional Afghan rug art. Afghan patterns are known for their central medallions, geometric rosettes, and densely woven borders, each reflecting a long-established weaving culture. Uşak, meanwhile, has been recognized for centuries as one of Turkey’s most established rug-weaving centers, dating back to the Ottoman period. These rich Afghan motifs are brought to modern living spaces, handwoven on custom looms and combined with Uşak’s long-standing weaving tradition, bringing together authentic character and contemporary elegance.

How to Clean a TENCEL™ Rug
Kabul Series TENCEL™ (Lyocell) rugs should only be cleaned by professional rug-cleaning companies. Due to the silky texture of the TENCEL™ fiber, washing at home or cleaning with plenty of water is not recommended. For everyday care, use a vacuum cleaner with low suction to preserve the rug's texture, colors, and natural sheen for a long time.
Add both a touch of history and luxurious comfort to your home with the Kabul Afghan-patterned TENCEL™ Uşak rug. You can return it unconditionally within 14 days of delivery. For more options, browse our Uşak rugs and TENCEL™ rugs collections.

Protect Their Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations that bring value to your living space for generations, adopt a gentle care routine.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When spills occur, timing is critical. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to lift the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only - never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug pile (the fibers’ natural lay). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent localized tonal differences (fading), we recommend changing your rug’s direction every 2 to 6 months.
The Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble fibers such as handwoven TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
The exquisite pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models explicitly labeled “Washable” in their name can be washed in home washing machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
